An Arizona real estate property appraiser must complete numerous requirements in order to gain state licensure. There are three levels of Arizona real estate appraisers; Licensed Residential Appraiser, Certified Residential Appraiser, and Certified General Appraiser.

The state of Arizona has 15 counties, including Maricopa County, Mohave County, and Pinal County. Popular cities in Arizona include Phoenix, Mesa, and Tucson. To begin with, an Arizona licensed real estate appraiser may appraise noncomplex one to four residential units having a value of less than one million dollars. Also, they may appraise complex one to four residential units having a value of less that two hundred fifty thousand dollars. Qualifying education of 150 hours and 2,000 hours of experience are also required at this level.

A certified Arizona real estate property appraiser may appraise one to four residential units without regard to value or complexity. A total of 200 approved class hours are required at this level. Also, an Associate degree or higher (or equivalent credits) is mandated starting in January 2008.

An Arizona real estate property appraiser may choose the path of a certified general real property appraiser. At this highest level, a general appraiser may appraise all types of real property. Applicants for the Arizona general real estate property appraiser must hold a Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university (or equivalant credit hours). In addition, 300 appraisal classroom hours including the 15 hour USPAP course is required.
