A career as a real estate appraiser can be a very challenging and rewarding one. Interested candidates are required to complete a minimum level of appraiser education and experience hours as set by The Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB). In addition to the AQB mandated requirements, each respective U.S. State has the option to increase hours as needed.
Interested individuals who hope on becoming a future appraiser at the Certified level must also have a college degree (or equivalent credit hours).
In efforts to simplify and consolidate information, we have summarized the education, experience, and college degree requirements as set by the AQB and each respective U.S. State. Additional information on each U.S. State appraiser regulatory agency may be found, including Board and/or Commission responsibilities.
