Pennsylvania Real Estate Property Appraiser

A Pennsylvania real estate property appraiser must successfully complete a number of requirements in order to be licensed and perform appraisals. Currently, there are four Pennsylvania real estate property appraiser license levels (Trainee License, Residential License, Certified Residential License, and Certified General License). There are 67 counties in Pennsylvania. Also, its capital is Harrisburg and its largest city is Philadelphia. Pennsylvania real estate property appraisers follow the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). USPAP are the generally accepted standards for professional appraisal practice in the U.S.A. Standards for all types of appraisal services are included and explained in USPAP. Standards are included for real estate, personal property, business and mass appraisal. "Scope of work," as covered by USPAP, is the work an appraiser performs to develop assignment results.

A Pennsylvania real estate property appraiser must comply with the Appraiser Qualifications Board of The Appraisal Foundation. A series of minimum national requirements have been implemented for individuals applying for a real estate appraiser license. For example, a certified residential appraiser must complete 200 hours of classroom hours and have an Associates degree or equivalent.

A certified general Pennsylvania real estate property appraiser is required to complete 300 hours of classroom preparation and hold a Bachelors degree or equivalent. Courses studied must include, but are not limited to Macro & Micro Economics, Algebra, and Statistics.
